A Day at Nike’s #AirMaxCon

A Day at Nike's

In celebration of Air Max Day which was March 26th, Nike NYC created Air Max Con – three days in which Nike+ members could interact with the brand and the shoe in new ways.  Of course, we signed up right when registration opened and attended Air Max Con on March 25th.

After checking in, we got a wristband for the event, which had detachable tabs.

When you first walk into the event, you’re greeted with colorful lights and the years in which new versions of Air Maxes were released.

Once you exit the entrance hallway, you’re greeted with a large red bird.  Venture to the left and you enter the Air Max vault where guests could vote which Air Max is going to be brought back.  Also in the vault are different designs of the Air Max throughout the years.

After the vault, are three pods that represent three key designers Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield, and Nike CEO Mark Parker who influenced the design of some shoes.  Each pod had a different design inspired by a designer and was definitely selfie-approved.  Check out our photos below.

On the other side of the room was the design studio, where attendees could customize their own Air Max and buy them at the event.

There was an Air Max store presented by SNKR that tempted me to buy shoes as well as some sculptures made out of Nike boxes.  Throughout the event, there were also cool wall murals.

Then, we went on line to get free posters, and they were even signed by the artist!  The best part?  Leslie and I saw Langston Galloway of the New York Knicks walking towards the exit and we got to chat with him and shake his hand.  As a die-hard Knicks fan, that was very cool.

Other activations included a place to clean your Nike shoes from the LA based Jason Markk, a manicure inspired by the Air Max by MP Nails, and the chance to take a photo of your shoes courtesy of the Madbury Group.  KITH Treats even gave out free cereal and ice cream to attendees inspired by some of the shoes, and boy, was it delicious.

Nike does not disappoint when it comes to their products, and they definitely didn’t disappoint with Air Max Con.
