When Season Seven of the HBO worldwide hit, Game of Thrones, premiered on July 16th, I threw a premiere party for me and three friends. If you know me, I love cooking and entertaining. Hosting a small dinner party complete with a Westeros theme? Sign. Me. Up.
First, let’s start off with the food. Since there were only four of us, I decided to keep it simple with the menu: two appetizers, one entree, and one dessert. Also, because we were going to be eating & watching the whole time, I definitely wanted to keep the food easy to eat. So, we went with chicken tenders, pigs in a blanket, spaghetti & meatballs, and cake. Shoutout to Alecis for making the spaghetti noodles & chicken tenders!
Now the real challenge was to make the food Game of Thrones themed. After thinking about it for a couple of days, I finally came up with some names for the dishes. Oh, and there was wine. What kind of GoT themed party would it be without it?! In the words of Tyrion Lannister, “I drink and I know things.”
- Chicken Littlefingers
- Theon’s Favorite Toy (a bit morbid, I know)
- Spaghetti and Dragonballs
- Sansa’s Lemon Cake
I made sure to add cards that explained what each dish was along with their GoT-inspired name. Because I am extra when it comes to party planning & hosting, I decided to wax seal and use my hand calligraphy skills to create menu “scrolls.” I used a Tombow pen & a really cool wax sealed set my friend Leslie got me from Versailles. (Thanks, Leslieasy!)
The scrolls were a quick, easy, and cute way to not only tie in the Westeros theme together, but also give guests a little souvenir from my premiere party. It definitely added a nice touch and my guests seemed to appreciate the detail.
Although I won’t be hosting a finale party, I do have some ideas ready for next season’s premiere party. I definitely have to add a touch of Jon Snow in there somehow… #KingOfTheNorth. Anyway, thanks for appeasing my nerdy side and checking out my Game of Thrones themed party. If any of you are throwing a party, I’d love to see!
